Ruth is the eighth book of the Bible. In early Jewish tradition, Judges and Ruth we together as one book. While this doesn't make sense from a structural point of view, both books do act as bridges between the Book of the Law and the History of Kings, one highlighting Israel's decline and the other illustrating a foreigner's faithfulness.
