In both the Greek and Latin Bibles (the Septuagint and the Vulgate), 1 & 2 Samuel and 1 & 2 Kings are all one book entitled 1-4 Kings. This name more accurately reflects the subject of the books (the kings of Israel and Judah) and show their underlying unity. This large meta-book is almost evenly divided into two, related chiasms which are thematically and structurally linked. The first section, tells the story of Israel's rejection of Yahweh as their king and their demand for a human king. The second section, narrates from the creation to the destruction of the First Template, the Temple of Solomon.
